Ex-N.J. sheriff’s officer sentenced to 3 years in prison for off-duty crimes

A former Mercer County sheriff’s officer was sentenced to three years in prison last month for three separate incidents of violence, records show.
Matthew Sickler, 37, must serve a mandatory minimum of a year behind bars for two of the cases, and with credit for time spent behind bars awaiting trial, he is eligible for parole in February, records show.
The three incidents — two last year and one earlier this year — occurred in Plumsted in Ocean County. In each, he was charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated assault or firearm possession.
